英文摘要 | Objective: this study measured the concentrations of nitric oxide (NO) in aqueous humor (AH) and plasma (P)) from patients with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG), chronic angle-closure glaucoma (CACG), neovascular glaucoma (NVG), or cataract (control group) for the evaluation of NO levels in different types of glaucoma patients. Methods: The samples of AH and P were obtained from 105 patients with glaucoma (28 POAG, 69 CACG, and 8 NVG) and 30 patients with cataract. The AH-NO and P-NO levels were measured by chemicluminescence assay. Results: We found that the AH-NO and P-NO levels (mean±SEM, μM) were no significant difference between glaucoma and cataract (AH-NO/P-NO; 42.9±4.0/14.1±1.6 vs. 35.5±3.3/13.9±1.5). The intraocular pressures were no statistical different among tested alaucoma groups. However, there is a positive correlation between the P-NO level and the AH-NO level (R2=0.6413). The NVG patients has the highest levels of AH-NO and P-NO, whereas the POAG patients had the lowest levels of AH-NO and P-NO (90.3±12.3/24.1±3.5vs.13.3±3.5/11.7±1.4). Conclusions: The higher aqueous humor and plasma NO levels of NVG, suggested that NO might play an important role in the special type of glaucoma, the NO level could be an indicator of the visual prognosis for NVG patients. |
