| 英文摘要 | Approximately half of patients hospitalized for schizophrenia experience constipation, with an incidence rate 3 times as high as that in the general population. Severe cases of constipation may lead to intestinal obstruction, thereby posing considerable health risks. Multiple factors contribute to constipation; in addition to sex, age, and lifestyle, constipation is closely associated with psychiatric symptoms, prolonged hospitalization, and medication use. However, patients with schizophrenia rarely express constipation-related concerns on their own initiative. Therefore, clinical nurses must actively assess patients' bowel movement frequency, stool characteristics, and stool volume, and may employ constipation assessment scales to support diagnosis. Non-pharmacological interventions should be prioritized when managing constipation. Nurses should evaluate influencing factors based on patients' fluid intake, dietary fiber consumption, and physical activity level and help patients make lifestyle adjustments accordingly. These adjustments include promoting walking exercise, ensuring adequate fluid and fiber intake, and establishing regular bowel training routines to help patients alleviate constipation. This study explored constipation and its associated factors in patients hospitalized for schizophrenia to provide nurses with comprehensive background information for assessment and integrate evidence-based preventive and management strategies. |
