英文摘要 | The term transculturality is currently being used more and more to analyse and to diagnose recent developments mostly within Western post-industrial societies while, at the same time, it also serves as a normative postulate to appropriately react to these developments on individual, social and scientific levels. Secondly the theoretical range of the term with regard to the understanding of 'Self' and 'Other' is scrutinised. Therefore, empirical explorations into the changes of perceptions of the 'Other' are examined, using migration phenomena as an example. Transculturality is also compared to the concept of transnationalism, which originated from interdisciplinary migration research. Thus, it can be tentatively assessed how relevant and sustainable the term transculturality is to describe the afore-mentioned societal developments. Thirdly-as a case in point-it is asked how migration has impacted on the culture of remembrance in Germany. This takes into consideration if and how perspectives on the past and the corresponding memories have changed due to migration processes. Fourthly, taking subject-specific discussions, teaching approaches, textbook exercises for German as a Foreign Language and literary contributions as examples, the (potential) effects of transculturality on German Studies are preliminarily assessed. |
