英文摘要 | In an earlier study (Wu, C.T. 1966), it was shown that more than two hundred F1 hybrid varieties (bi-clonal plants) giving earlier sprouting in spring crop than their parents that planted at this station since 1954. They are not only in same age, but also under same standard method of management. The purpose of this article is to study the correlations between the charecteristics of young shoots of these hybrid varieties to the yield and quality of Sentya in order to select some new superior verieties of early plucking type for producing Japanese type of green tea in Taiwan. This trial was carried out at this station from 1968 to 1972. The results of the investigation are summarized as follows: 1. Correlation coefficients between the yield of fresh tea leaves and the characteristics of young shoots of the 40 new early-sprouting varieties were calculated in Table 5. It wa shown that the correlation between the yield and the thickness of the 2nd young leaf was negative and significant (r=-0.4795), and positive correlations between the yield and the size of leaf and the length of internode were obtained (r=-0.2825 and -0.2771 respectively). 2. The relationships between the quality of Sentya nd the characteristics of young shoots of the 40 new early-sprouting varieties are shown in Table. 8. Some significant results of which are: (1) The weight per 100 young shoots was negatively correlated with the "colour of liquor" of three seasons' average, the "colour of liquor" of the spring crop, the "appearance" of the summer crop and the "total quality" of three seasons' average, (r=-0.4795, -0.3424, -0.2825 and -0.2771 respectively). (2) It was found that negative correlations were obtained between the "size of leaf" with the "appearance", the "colour of liquor" and the "total quality" of Sentya. (r=-0.4709, -0.4795 and -0.3316 respectively). This means that big leaved varieties as Assam type is not suitable for making Sentya type of green tea. (3) The "length of internode" was negetively related to the "appearance"of summer green tea (r=-0.7192). The "diameter of internode" was also negatively related to the "appearance" and the "colour of liquor" of Sentya. (r=-0.4110 and -0.3224 respectively). According to the significant relationship, the best indication of the quality of Sentya is also given by the "size of internode" among tea varieties. 3. The correlation between the quality of Sentya nad some chemical constituents in young shoots of the 25 early-sprouting varieties of tea plant are as follows: (1) There was no significant correltaion between the quality of Sentya and the content of total nitrogen in tea leaves. (2) The quality of Sentya was negatively correlated with the content of total catechins at 0.01 significant level (r=-0.5017), while it was closely related to the colour of infused leaves (r=-0.7682). (3) A significant and positive correlation between the auality of Sentya and the chlorophyll content was obtained (r=-0.8426). Therefore, when desired varieties are being selected for producing Sentya type green tea, both the contents of lower catechins and higher chlorophylls must be taken into consideration. 4. After five years of study, six new superior varieties and three sub-superior varieties were selected from 256 strains of bi-clones of early-sprouting tea varieties for manufacturing Sentya type of green tea. (see Fig. 1 to 12). The characteristics of the six new superior varieties and a check variety (leading var). are tabulated below for comparison: |
