英文摘要 | For the purpose of studying the effect of mulching on the growth, yield and quality of tea plant, this experiment has been conducted at Pin-chin Tea Experimental Station, since the Spring of 1963. Four treatments were designiated as follows: (a) terrace plot, neither mulching nor covor crop, keeping clean cultivation; (b) terrace same as (a), with straw mulching, 20,000 kgs of rice straw per ha.; (c) no terrace, with straw mulching same as (b); and (d) terrace same as (a), or (b) without straw mulching but with cover crop of Indigofera endecaphylla. The field layout is in randomized blocks with four replications. All of the trial plots are situated on diluvial hillside with 25% slope of Ping-chin clay loam, about 200-210 meters above sea level. Tea variety of TN No. 29 was selected and planted in March of 1963. The results obtained from the observation during Jan. 1965 to Dec. 1966, may be summarized as follows: 1. It was found that in the straw mulching plots either soil or fresh tea leaves, the moisture content was increased. However the result was quite opposite to reduce the moisture in the plot with cover crops. It was clearly observed that due to the competition of cover crop, the growing of young teas was weaker, while mulching was benefited in tea growth during drought condition. 2. The effect of straw mulching and that of the growing of cover crop on soil temperature were also different. The mean soil temperature under straw mulching showed slight rising, while the reducing of soil temperature was indicated due to the growing of cover crop. 3. No significant difference was found on the morphological characters of young shoot and quality of made tea among the four treatments. But the growth-rate of young shoot on the terrace plot with mulching was more rapid than that of the other treatments. 4. As regards the average yield of fresh tea leaves of the 4-year young teas among the four treatments, the terrace and mulching plot was the highest and the cover-crop plot was the lowest. |
