英文摘要 | The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of Rhodiola crenulata/Crodyceps sinensis (RC) supplementation on oxygenation levels in human skeletal muscle and brain after short-term altitude training. Fourteen male long-distance track and field athletes were evenly divided into Placebo (P) and RC/CS supplemented (RC) groups based on their sea-level VO2max. The subjects received either RC (R. crenulata 1,400 mg + C. sinensis 600 mg/day) or placebo (starch) during a 4-week training program, which consisted of 2-week sea-level training and 2-week altitude training (~2,200 m). Reduced tissue oxygenation levels (total hemoglobin, oxyhemoglobin, deox-hemoglobin and oxygen saturation percentage (%) were found in both skeletal muscle and brain tissues 1 day after altitude training. Whereas RC group better maintained oxygenation status at normal level in brain tissue following altitude training compared with the placebo group. Moreover, muscle total hemoglobin, oxyhemoglobin and oxygen saturation percentage were significantly increased in both groups after 2-week altitude training, but no significant group difference was found. Our findings conclude that RC supplementation could prevent the reduced hemodynamic state of brain. |
