中文摘要 | 棒球場上除了令人熱血奔騰的球場張力外,還隱藏了許多的物理原理可供 科學愛好者品嚐探索。本文即要以看似平凡的棒球為議題,來看其間所包含的物 理問題。雖然古典力學告訴我們:若知道一物體所受到的力與此物體運動的起始 條件,理論上我們就可求得此物體的運動軌跡。但對一個飛行的棒球,除了重力 之外,其所受到的力並不是可被清楚地寫下。本論文的前半部,作者將以流體力 學的觀點去說明棒球飛行時所受到的氣動力–空氣阻力與馬格納斯力,並探究這 些力的來源。而論文的後半部,則是以較務實的方法去探討空氣阻力與馬格納斯 力的數學形式及大小。並在最後針對一個球場上廣為流傳的經驗探討「快速上飄 球」的可能性。 |
英文摘要 | Besides our passion in a baseball game, if we are interested in science, we probably will know there are many physical issues in baseball. For example, we can calculate the trajectory of a flying baseball as we know its initial conditions and the forces on it. Unfortunately, even this simple problem we can hardly write down the forces, except gravity, on the flying baseball explicitly. Even if we know there are two other forces on a flying baseball, drag and Magnus force, but where are these forces coming from?and how large are they?In this paper, I will try to answer these questions from the viewpoint of fluid dynamics. And in the last part of this paper, I will discuss the possibility of “the hop of the fastball ”. |
