中文摘要 | 洛克(John Locke 1632~1704)做為啟蒙運動的先驅,他的哲學著作成為後世經驗論的開創者。身為民主自由的拓荒者,他的政治思想成為近代自由主義的基礎。而做為西方教育的改革者,他的身體觀則深深的影響十八世紀教育改革的思潮。洛克《教育漫談》開卷首句便是:「健全的心靈寓於健全的身體,這是對於人世幸福的一種簡短而充分的描繪。」明確地闡明教育不僅僅是品德陶冶,更要有健全的身體做為基礎,在當時封建教會所設置的舊教育中所盛行的形式主義教育中,開展出一條教育改革的新方向。 在十七、八世紀之交錯處,洛克一生歷經不同的時代潮流變化,有著不同的人生階段際遇,本文透過人物傳記的方式,嘗試從洛克的思想基礎,來探討洛克的身體觀。本文分成五部份,分別是:一、洛克的生平及時代背景,二、當時的教育方式與之前的教育家的比較,三、洛克的思想與身體活動,四、對後世的影響,五、結語。 |
英文摘要 | As the forerunner of the Enlightenment and the supporter of democracy, Locke had a major influence on empiricism, and, more importantly, his ideas about politics serve as the foundation of modern liberalism. Also, his discursive framework of physical education played a significant role in shaping the movement of the education reform in the 18[90bb] century. Locke begins his by saying "Some Tho-ughts Concerning Education": A Sound Mind in a found Body, is a short, but full defcription of a Happy State in this World., which, clearly and precisely, elucidates that education not only refers to the intellectual pursuits but emphasizes much on the sound body. His provocative viewpoint thus subverts the conservative rules of the stubborn education system in his time. As a somebody in the late 17[90bb] and the early 18[90bb] century, John Locke witnessed the drastic changes in his time and led a very diverse life. As a result, in this paper, I attempt to discuss Locke's ideas about physical education from Locke's life and his philosophical discourses. This paper is divided into five parts: Locke's life and his growing background, the education system of his time, Locke's ideas about philosophy and physical education, and the achievement and influence of Locke. |
