中文摘要 | 近年來高等教育學府數量大量擴舍。新設科系,如應用外語(英、日及德語等)科系因應政府經貿發展方針而紛紛設立。在民國九十學年度國內將有五十所以上的學校設有應用外語科系,有八十所以上的學校設有外語文科系。外語科系的學生大量成長引起教育學者與行政人員的關注,對設設應用外語科系的課程設計與規劃專家而?也是一項挑戰。 本文首先探討下列幾個問題:社會的需求、學生的觀要、以及學校的訓練課程。作者並就美和技術學院為例,提出一般應用外語科系的學程規劃供新設應用外語的教育規劃人員參考。教育規劃包括:學制、教育宗旨、課程規劃、發展重點及特色、與畢業生未來展望,並檢討當前應用外語課程規劃所面臨的考量因素。並就當前面臨的考量因素。並就當前面臨專業的應用外語師資不足與學生興趣迥異,提出讓學生跨科系甚至跨校選課的建議。 |
英文摘要 | In recent years, we have seen burgeoning development in the number of higher education institutions in Taiwan. New departments, such as Applied Foreign Language (AFL) in English, Japanese and German, are initiated to respond to government policies on socioeconomic development. For example, by the school year 2000-2001 more than 50 educational institutions in Taiwan will offer various programs in applied foreign languages and 80 institutions in foreign languages. The enormous student population in foreign languages departments has drawn major concerns among educators and administrators and posted challenges to curriculum designers and planners of new AFL departments. Educational planners shall take the following factors into consideration: social demands, student needs, and school training programs. These factors often present uncertainties in designing curriculum when the socioeconomic status quo changes. As a references to planners of now Department of Applied Foreign Languages (AFL), the author has proposed an educational development plan for the various programs being offered and to be offered in the AFL Department in general, and for the AFL at the Mei Ho Institute of Technology in specific. The pan includes the following sections: educational goals, curriculum planning, educational emphases and specificity, outlook of graduates, and finally, the future of the AFL. Meanwhile, some questions about the factors to be taken into account in designing an AFL curriculum are also posed. It is also suggested that students be eligible for taking courses in other departments or institutions to quell disturbances and inconveniences caused by recent shortage of AFL professionals and specialists in filling in faculty positions and satisfying students' diverse interest. |
