英文摘要 | The starting point and importance of faith and Rationality is to point out the basic dignity of a person. It elevates a person above all other creatures, and makes a person possess absolute privilege. That is, the privilege of freely pursuing transcendence. Heraclitus says: “I have tried to know myself.” The Pope's interpretation of it is double-person and ontological. “You should know yourself.” This saying is an inscription on the bottom of cross beam in the Delphi temple. It points to a truth, anyone who wants to show the characteristic of man qua man among all creatures, has to follow the fore mentioned truth. And philosophy is the way of understanding of the rooted truth of man's existence. Faith and rationality like tow wings elevate man's spirit to the contemplative truth. “The encyclical” divides the way from God to man from that from man to God. But theses two are not separate. For the downward way and the upward way are in a circular movement and complement each other. The upward way of man toward God reacts to Aristotle's first sentence in Metaphysics “All men by nature desire to know”, the paramount point of learning to know points to the existence of God and His attributes. Thus, Pope's “encyclical” praises Greek philosophy, because it affirms metaphysics toward religious openness. The mission of first task of the philosophy of religious openness is to rediscover its “looking for the final and complete meaning of life”; and the second mission is to explicitly affirm that “man is capable of finding the truth.” The third mission is to emphasize “the necessity of founding philosophy on metaphysics.” |
