英文摘要 | Systems thinking has played a critical role in the historical development of educational technology since the 1970s. With its wide application to the development of many instructional design and development models, the essence of systems thinking has been narrowed down to "systematic design". Such a systematic approach, however, has distorted the spirit of systems thinking. While constructive and situated learning gain more and more recognition from educational technologists, the way systems thinking has been interpreted and applied is also challenged. Although some scholars turn to systemic view to broaden our visions of systems thinking, the essence of systems thinking has not yet been thoroughly studied. In this article, the author discusses various modes of systems thinking and argues that the cultivation of the designers' systems thinking abilities to design is more important than the development of systematic/systemic models for the designers to use. With a brief review, analysis and comparison of Banathy's, Checkland's and Senge's systems thinking, the author proposes a preliminary model of "constructing a learning design team". It is expected that the spirit of such a model can pinpoint the future development of instructional systems design and development for the coming of life-long learning or knowledge management era. |
