英文摘要 | The subjects of this study were 36 2nd, 4th and 6th grade aboriginal children from two elementary schools in Hualien. We studied the Amei children's plant conceptions through 3-phase data collection using a draw-a-plant test and individual interviews. Results showed that: (1)"tree" was the children's most typical instance of a "plant" concept, and (2)the children classified plants by using plant categories, plant structure, and plant physiology. Of the plant categories, the labels for them differed from those of biologists but resembled those of adult laymen. They used not only scientifically acceptable characteristics, but also many scientifically unacceptable characteristics. (3)When making a plant classification, the children often compared the object with their plant images first. Then they considered the structural or physiological characteristics. Furthermore, this study found that the children's plant prototype seemed to be "plants" are trees, grasses, or flowers that have roots, stems or leaves and grow on substratum? Children's common misconceptions and some possible implications for teachers are discussed in this paper. |
