英文摘要 | The influence of the Gurney flap on the multi-element race car wings and a NACA4412 airfoil is investigated in this study. Numerical calculations is based on a preconditioning compressible Navier-Stokes solver with AUSMD and a RNG turbulence model. Computational results of the NACA4412 airfoil with a Gurney flap are compared with the validated data and provide a check case to verify the simulation of multi-element race car wings. It shows that the Gurney flap enhances the performance of the ligh-lift airfoils and wings. In addition it is predicted that the second element of the race car wing needs to move forward 5 percent chord length to achieve maximum downforce. Also, the race car wing with a small angle of attack and a side fin is shown to increase downforce around the wing center and maintain the downforce near the wing tip. |
