英文摘要 | With an axial tension-compression testing machine, assessment was made for the tension and fatigue performance of the AISI 1045 steel specimens with and without coatings. The coatings had single-and multi-layer constructions and ranged from 3 to 9um. The fracture mechanisms were examined utilizing a scanning electron microscope and an optical microscope. It was found that the application of surface films didn'g affect the Young's modulus and tensile strength, but did lower the fracture strain. For fatigue, the multilayer coatings showed poorer enhancement in the fatigue limit than the single-layer coatings. with 3um singlelayer TiN a largest ehnancement by 40 MPa in the endurance limit was achieved. The mechanisms responsible for the tension and fatigue failure of the TiN-coated specimens were shown. |
