中文摘要 | 大學或學院利用網路來進行遠距教學,可以說是未來全球性持續的趨勢。不像先 前教育的趨勢由學術研究所主導,網路教育是由學術界之外的力量來支持的。最常見的網 路教育型式為正式課程、自我導向學習、線上論述、新聞群體、電子郵件、互動式影碟以 及虛擬實境。網際網路對於學習者、教育者與機構各有利弊。有關網路教育的研究很缺乏 ,主要是由於尚未有利用電子進行教學評鑑的機制,此外,也與科技進步與變化的速度遠 超過學者所能研究有關。雖然面對這些挑戰,但是在全球各大陸都有一些網路教育在進行 ,一些正在使用或發展次網路為基礎的教學機構,例如:臺灣大學、香港開放大學、蘇格 蘭的佩斯理大學、南非的大學、英國開放大學及史丹佛大學。與全球網路教育有關的議題 ,例如:版權、經濟效益、學習品質、認證、可接近性、合作、教師的酬勞、課程、市場 力量、評量以及某些價值中心的經驗。 |
英文摘要 | Use of the Internet for distance education by colleges and universities around the world is one trend likely to continue. Unlike previous educational trends driven by research and tradition inside academe, Internet education is enthusiastically supported by forces outside of the academy. The most widely used practices incelude formal courses, self-directed learning, online lecture notes, newsgroups, electronic mail, interactive video, and virtual reality. Both advantages and disadvantages accrue to Internet learners, educators, and institutions. Internet education is poorly researched, largely because there are no protocols for evaluating electronically delivered education and also because technology is a moving target, changing faster than scholars can study it. Despite challenges, some version of Internet education or at least a vision for it is evident on every continent in the world. Examples of institutions using or developing Web based instruction include National Taiwan University, Hong Kong Open University, Paisley University of Scotland, the University of South Africa, British Open University and Stanford University. Serious policy issues surround the use of Internet for global distance education: copyright, cost effectiveness, quality of learning, accreditation, access, collaboration, faculty rewards, curriculum, market forces, assessment, and values-centered experiences. |
