英文摘要 | An Institute of Technology is an institution for higher learning. Its primary mission is to provide professional education for vocational high school or junior technical college graduates who have completed entry-level preparation for some specific practical fields. All professional jobs are services for people and society. Therefore, in addition to technical competency, humanity concern, or caring for people, is an essential component that determines the, quality, effectiveness, and value of the professional practice. It is the objective of an institute of technology to cultivate professionals with humanity concern. Its curriculum must emphasize both the technical and the humanity aspects. "General Education" at an institute of technology should be the basic spirit instead of just a few side courses. By injecting humanity concerns into the whole curriculum and educational process, the meaning of higher professional education is manifested. |
