英文摘要 | The aims of this study were to describe the pain following a series of maximum isometric contractions and fatiguing dynamic trunk extension and flexion movements in a normal male population, and to test whether there was a significant difference in the trunk strength, endurance, rate of perceived effort and physical activity between those subjects who reported pain and those who did not. After the maximal isometric and fatiguing dynamic contractions, approximately half of the subjects experienced pain. The pain profiles observed in this study appeared to be different from the pain profiles of patients with chronic low back pain. There were no differences in the strength, endurance, rate of perceived effort, work and leisure indexes of physical activity between subjects who reported pain and those who did not. However, the sports index of physical activity was significantly higher among those who did not report pain. The use of pain questionnaires may provide a valuable diagnostic tool by eliminating the need for more expensive imaging studies in cases of muscular-based low back pain. |
