Coastal Plain. Organic origins and processes occurring during the transportation and after the deposition are recorded in the alkane distribution. Attempts have been made to correlate the n-alkane distributions reflect the non-marine environments by showing relatively higher amounts of terrestrial n-alkanes in the range of n-C27-n-C33 derived from terrestrial higher plants. On the other hand, the samples of the lagoonal environment always show significantly higher amounts of low molecular weight n-alkanes ranging from n-C E -n-C which are related to the algae/microbial origin. This correlation infers that n-alkane distributions in the Tzai-kang core might, to some extent, reflect the environmental changes indicated by foraminifera examination. |
