英文摘要 | Although shallow seismic profiles show that near-surface strata (to a depth of 400 m) in the southwestern coastal plain of Taiwan are mostly horizontal, near-surface folding with an amplitude of 20 m or less occurs in the Sanliaowan and the Nankunshen areas. In addition, near-surface tilting with an average dip angle of 6°is found in the Yichu area. A resistivity profile in the Yichu area also suggests the existence of tilting. An estimate of the age of the deformation, using C dating, is less than 25,000 yrBP. Available information seems to support the theory of new Taiwan Orogeny that the late Quaternary tectonic activity has started even in the southwestern coastal plain. |
