英文摘要 | Three-way crossbred hogs are finishing pigs from piglets farrowed by LY or Yl hybrid sows sired by Duroc boars. LY or YL sows are hybrid of both Landrace and Yokshire breeds. A total of 1,161 barrows and 1,177 gilts was used for the growth performance test at 25 to 95 kg of body weight. The backfat thickness at the fifth rib, the last rib, and the last lumbar vertaebra were measwred by ultrasonic probe at 95 kg of body weight. Average daily gains of barrows and gilts during the performance test were 0.67 ± 0.10 and 0.62 ± 0.10 kg, respectively. Feed efficiency (Feed/Gain) for both sexes were 3.51 ± 0.43 and 3.53 ± 0.54. Age at 95 kg of body weight were 180 ± 26 and 188 ± 24 days for barrows and gilts, respectively. Barrows grew faster than gilts (P<0.05) but had thicker backfat. Backfat thickness at the fifth rib, the last rib, and the last lumbar vertebra were 2.37 ± 0.33, 1.42 ± 0.26 and 1.73 ± 0.31 cm in barrows, and 2.18 ± 0.28, 1.25 ± 0.24 and 1.55 ± 0.28 cm in gilts, respectively. Frequency analysis on ratios of backfat thickness at the fifth rib to the last rib and the highest frequencies in barrows and gilts were listed. In 41.77% of barrows, the backfat thickness at the last rib and the last lumbar vertebra were 0.6 and 0.73 times of the backfat thickness at the fifth rib. Similarly, in 39.34% of gilts, the ratios of the backfat thickness at the last rib and the last lumbar vertebra to the backfat thickness at the fifth rib were 0.5 and 0.66. Phenotypic correlations of average daily gain and backfat thickness were significant in both barrows and gilts although the coefficients were not high and ranged from 0.14 to 0.25. Correlations among three measurements of backfat thickness varied from 0.61 to 0.75. A negative correlation existed between feed efficiency and averatge daily gain (r=-0.45). Feed efficiency was positively correlated with backfat thickness at the fifth rib (r=0.21) and at the last rib (r=0.16) but not with backfat thickness at the last lumbar vertebra (r=0.02, P>0.73). |
