英文摘要 | The objectives of the study reported here were to examine the relationships among the temperatures of lumber-center and kiln-air and moisture content changes, and to evaluate the feasibility of using the difference between lumber-center and kiln- air temperature as a guide for estimating the final moisture content of the wood during high-temperature kiln drying. Mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla) and China-fir (Cunninghamia Lanceolata) lumber, 3cm and 5cm(T)×15cm(W)×150cm(L) were used for this study. Each group of the test boards was kiln dried at 112℃ in a mixture of steam and air process. The moisture content was calculated by weighing sample method, and the lumber central- temperature was measured and recorded continuously by an electronic recorder with thermocouple sensors. The results of this study show that: 1.It is feasible to use the temperature difference between lumber-center and kiln-air as a guide for estimating the final average moisture content of the wood during high- temperature kiln drying. 2.The final average moisture content is about 6%, when the central-temperature of the samples up to 111℃ or 1℃ below the kiln air for 3cm and 5cm of Mahogany and China-fir to be dried at a high-temperature of 112℃. 3.We are encouraged to recommend that it is necessary to make a further investigation on different species and thickness of some other commercial woods. |
