中文摘要 | 比較不同母體文化差異可以深入了解環境偏好本的質。有些研究強調文化決定偏 好行為,有些研究則主張不同的文化仍有相似的偏好及美學評判,而”熟悉性”可能是影響 此差異的因子,但尚未被全然接受。本研究之目的是測試不同文化背景對於景觀偏好之差異 情形。 利用 45 張在賓州州立大學( Pennsylvania State University )及州立大學城( State College )拍攝之景觀幻燈片來進行環境偏好之問卷評估,測試樣本為在賓州州立大 學就讀之美國學生及台灣留學生。 研究結果顯示 (1) 台灣學生對景觀之評值高於美國學生 。 (2) 兩樣本學生在九類的景觀及建築外貌分類中, 其中五類的偏好平均值有顯著差異。 (3) 美國學生較偏好象徵性建築及戶外開放空間。(4) 社會因子分析顯示偏好差異性不高。 (5) 美國學生和台灣對最喜歡和最不喜歡的三張景觀有相似的偏好認知。(6) 熟悉性不能說 明此研究中,美國學生和台灣學生的偏好差異,因為中國學生雖然熟悉校園景觀,但該校園 景觀仍是異國景觀。環境偏好的研究提供了解文化和社會經驗對認知的影響,環境規劃師和 設計師應著重使用者的經驗,以提高環境偏好的品質。 |
英文摘要 | Cross-cultural comparisons with other populations can provide further insight into the nature of environmental preference. Some studies stressed culture as the pre-eminent determinant of preferene. While some researchers provided support for strong cross-cultural similarities in aesthetic judgements of various landscapes, familiarity is likely the differences factor, but it not been proven for all discrepan- cies. The purpose of this study was to examine the nature of environmental prefer- ence within cross-cultures. The comparison is between American students and overseas Taiwanese students at Pennsylvania State University. The 45-scene slides of the Pennsylvania State University and downtown area of State College were stimuli and comprised the slide-questionnaire. The results indicated that (1) Taiwanese students rated the scenes higher than American students; (2) There was a difference of mean preference between the two student samples for five of the nine structure appearance categories; (3) The Amer- ican students preferred more the Symbolic Structures and open spaces; (4) The so- cial factors analysis showed the preferences were generally more similar than the differences; (5) There was a similarity perception in the highest and lowest three scenes ratings between Taiwanese and American students; (6) The familiarity can hardly explain the preference difference between the current study Taiwanese and the American sample, because the campus scenes are "familiar to" but "foreign to" Taiwanese. Environmental preference provides a window as to how cognitive- affective re- lationships affect culture and social experiences to the environmental setting. It can be enhanced by environmental planning and design which focuses on the user's experience. |
