英文摘要 | Seventy-two weanling crossbred pigs (ave. initial wt. 5.92kg) were used in 6-wk trial to evaluate the effect of different dietary fat sources on the growth and immune response of weaned pigs. The diets were primarily formulated with corn, soybean meal and fish meal supplemented with soybean oil, tallow, and lard as fatty acid sources, and sugar as a control. All diets isoenergetic and isonitrogenic, and formulated to meet or exceed the National Research Council (1979) recommendation for all nutrients, but with a lower energy level for the control diet supplemented with sugar. All pigs were weighted and had their feed intakes measured weekly; in addition, they were injected with sheep red blood cells (5×□ SRBC) phytohemagglutinin (750 μg PHA) to measure the hemagglutinating antibody reaction and skin swelling response of weaned pigs. The results indicated that growth performance and efficiency of feed utilization were not significantly different among dietary fat sources. The feed intake during 0 to 6 wks of age and energy intake during 4 to 6 or 0 to 6 wks of age of the group fed with sugar were significantly (P < 0.05) higher than those of the groups fed with fats. The hemagglutinating antibody titer reached a peak at 6 days after injection and the skin swelling response reached a peak at 9 hours after PHA injection for all treatment pigs. The humoral immune response as monitored by hemagglutination to SRBC and the cell-mediated immunity as measured by the chronological skin response to PHA were not significantly different among dietary treatments. These dietary fat sources in immune responsiveness were not remarkably different when compared with sugar addition. |
