英文摘要 | This paper aims to explore the impact of Duolingo use on various aspects of a language learner's attitudes. An experimental group of German learners using Duolingo was compared to a control group of students learning German from a human instructor in a beginner's university course. Both groups were given pre- and post-intervention questionnaires to assess any changes in attitudes over the course of the intervention. Attitudes in both groups became more positive across all emotional components that were measured-feelings of autonomy, confidence, attitudes towards the target language, foreign language enjoyment, inclination towards lifelong learning, attitudes towards Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL), and attitudes towards human-instructed language classes. However, the Duolingo students experienced greater improvement than the control group on all of these components. Implications for Duolingo self-learners and teachers are discussed. |
