英文摘要 | The Catholic Diocese of Hsinchu established the Youth at Risk Ministry Office in 1999, and using "pastoral counseling" model to serve the youth at risk in Hsinchu area. In 2004 the center established the "Hui-R" coffee shop to accompany these hard core juveniles who just left the institution or school, with the hope that when these juveniles receive the "care" a transcendent energy will naturally entrust them with power to sprout inner goodness as well as the understanding of what is good. This special intervention method inspired this research in order to understand more of the intervention method and evaluate its outcome. This research used the combination of quantitative and qualitative methods. The quantitative method looked in the case records between 2004 up to 2012. The results showed that most of the juveniles were underage, had broken families or had multiple family problems. These juveniles did not get enough care or love, dropped out from school, were given up by school, teachers, and peers, had the difficulty in returning to school or getting a job. Most of them experienced severe psychological trauma. The recovering partnership method used multiple visits and long term involvement in order to help these juveniles learn to regulate themselves and make their lives more stable. The qualitative method included, first of all, an interview with the agency workers in order to understand how they approached these juveniles. Their ways provided "on-spot services" and called each other with their "nicknames." Also, the research tried to understand the activities in the coffee shop and how the workers see the juveniles' problems (the social environment do not provide fair chances to these juveniles, the agency is working to return justice to these juveniles, and the juveniles' desire to be loved and cared). The researcher also asked them the question of why the agency did not set up a time limit to provide services. The answers were that the agency hopes to find a flexible way to serve these youth instead of using the rigid professional method, and the youth would need a longer time to acquire self-understanding and self-determination and to understand the uniqueness of their life processes. The researcher also tapped into the question of dependency if the services did not have a time limit. Secondly, interviews were done with the juveniles. These juveniles talked about the changing process of self-awareness (learning career planning, promoting values, agency as a spiritual harbor and learning to screen peers) in order to gain other assistance (to look into the future, to learn to communicate, interact and sort out difficult situations). They concluded that the social workers in the agency are different from the social workers of other social services units. In the end, the researcher summed that the evangelization of social work has no conflict with the nature of social work. On the contrary, the current social work only emphasizes the service outcome and cuts the service process into pieces. This approach should arouse the current social work to revive. It is important to take the whole person's caring approach, and hopefully this approach could be a frame of reference for the current social work. |
