英文摘要 | Emotional intelligence (EI) has been an emerging topic for psychological, educational, and management researchers and consultants in recent years. After clarifying thedefinition of EI as a set of mental abilities related to emotions, a recent study in Hong Kong has developed a self-report EI measure and demonstrated its relationships with some job outcomes. This study attempts to test whether it is possible to develop forced choice items for measuring EI for Hong Kong Chinese. After generating items by 122 experienced managers and selecting the best items from a sample of 326 undergraduatestudents, the forced choice items were tested on a sample of 122 administrative, clerical and technical staff of a university in Hong Kong. Results support the utility of the forced choice items. Limitations of this study and call for further research were discussed. |
