中文摘要 | 推動溝通式英語教學在過去二十年來台灣的英語教育中是極重要的議題。研究結果顯示,在英文為外語的國家中實施任務型英語教學法困難重重。本研究之目的為調查台灣技職校院的英文教師對報紙諮詢專欄書信用於任務型溝通教學活動中的看法與困難所在。研究工具為質性訪談法,經分析歸納後,結果顯示受測之教師們,普遍認為任務型教學活動可以提升學生的學習動機;分析受測教師在教學中遭遇之困難,有班級過大、上課時間不足、學生不習慣西方教學法、評量困難、缺乏資源和設備等。本研究亦提出使用報紙諮詢專欄書信於任務型溝通教學活動中的建議。本研究的結論是:報紙諮詢專欄文章用於任務型溝通活動值得在台灣技職大專校院中推廣。 |
英文摘要 | Promoting communicative English for language teaching has become a critical issue in education in Taiwan for the past two decades. Despite the widespread adoption of Task-based Language Teaching in Western countries, implementing communicative tasks in EFL countries has often proved difficult. As Taiwanese technological and vocational college English teacher's perceptions of using tasks in teaching remain largely unexplored, the researcher conducted a qualitative study to examine their perceptions of using newspaper advice column letters in the cIassroom. This project also aimed to probe into the participants' perceived difficulties in implementing tasks with an ultimate goal of improving learners' communicative ability. The participants for this study were eight English teachers from technological and vocational colleges from Taiwan. The instrument was a structured interview with a purpose of eliciting their perceptions and experience of using newspaper advice column Ietters. The results indicated that the majority of the subjects regarded the use of newspaper advice column letters as an effective approach in raising learner motivation. The findings also showed that the difficulties they encountered in implementing tasks involved a wide range of sources-large class size, insufficient class time, problems in assessing students, and a lack of resources and equipment. Additionally, this study provided suggestions to the ways in which the use of newspaper advice column letters can be best facilitated in the FL classroom. |
