英文摘要 | The concept of ”prana” originated from the Upanishads; in Vedantic philosophy, it means ”vital force”, and such concept is central to Ayurveda and Yoga. In modern terms, it is identical to [subtle] energy. The original meaning of Yoga means ”connection.” In Hinduism and Tibetan Buddhism, through meditation and Pranayama (the practice of controlling one's breath), one could purify one's chakras (the energy centers of our body), correct negative frequencies, bring in the vital force from the universe, and regain the healthy connection between body, mind, and soul.Gary Snyder, American Eco-Poet laureate, was deeply influenced by Oriental philosophies. For Snyder, a poet is a healer who tries to heal the diseases of modern Western civilization. In this paper, I will try to web Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism, and Gary Snyder's Eco-Poetry from the perspective of healing energy, and suggest that the cure lies in ”the identity of prana and mind.” |
