英文摘要 | Hualien county, located in the east of Taiwan, is rich in unique landscapes. Due to the convenient transportation and the two-day-off per week policy, recreation experiences in Hualien tend to include activities that are novel, with varieties, personalized and challenging, such as stream tracing, rafting, diving and hiking. This research aims to investigate the difference of stream tracing participants' expectations and their real experiences. By analyzing participants' demographic information, trip experiences, over-all satisfaction and intention to revisit, the results will be valuable references to future plan and research in stream tracing. In-depth interviews were conducted with stream tracing operators to understand the current situation of the business. A self-developed questionnaire was used as the instrument to collect data. The sample was stream tracing participants in Hualien. The convenience sampling was adopted. 399 effective questionnaires were received with the response rate of 82%. Descriptive statistics, factor analysis and paired t-test were used for data analysis. Four benefits of stream tracing were resulted from factor analysis: pressure relieving, social interaction, educational benefits and psychological benefits. Participants revealed the highest expectation and satisfaction in pressure relieving benefits. Long distance was the reason for low intention to revisit. According to the results of paired t-test, perceived satisfaction of participants was significantly increased after stream tracing. In conclusion, participants attained satisfied stream tracing experiences under the guidance from professional instructors despite gender difference. It is suggested that stream tracing operators may build up their positive image through media. They can also improve the ecological interpretation techniques of stream tracing instructors. As a result, participants can not only experience an enjoyable trip but also learn about sustainable tourism to protect the stream ecology. |
