中文摘要 | 隨著全球化腳步日益加速,臺灣大學生更須加強英語溝通能力以與外界互動或與國際競爭。近日,通過標準化英語能力測驗似已成為臺灣大學生檢視或佐證個人英語能力之經常作法。為幫助學生提升英語溝通能力,並為其日後參加英語能力測驗預先準備,本文作者在其任教之「進階英文」課堂中,嘗試融入考試導向教學活動。 本文首先將描述其中三項最常使用之教學活動,並陳述其實施過程和理論根基;繼而,再依據學生於學期中兩次不同時間點所書寫之課堂省思,以及於學期末所填寫之網路教學評鑑結果,探討該班學生對此教學安排之觀感。作者於文末並分享三點教學心得。 |
英文摘要 | As globalization speeds up, having a good command of English has become more crucial for Taiwanese college students who wish to reach out or compete with people around the world. One way for these students to prove that they have attained proficient enough English skills is to pass a standardized English test, such as the GEPT, or TOIEC, a practice that is commonplace in Taiwan these days. To assist my students to achieve these two learning goals, I integrated some test-oriented activities in an “Advanced English” class in one semester. In the first part of this paper, I will describe three of the activities that had been used most frequently over the semester, with a focus on how they were implemented and the rationales behind them. Then, I will discuss how my students perceived the course over time, on the basis of the two reflections they wrote in class and the results of the course evaluation they filled out online near the end of the semester. The paper will conclude with my reflections from the teacher’s point of view. |
