英文摘要 | The semiconductor industry is one of the most highly competitive industries in Taiwan. This study aims to evaluate the nature of exposures and sources of work-related incidents and analyze the association between personal characteristics, safety climate and work-related incidents among semiconductor industry workers. Workers from six semiconductor companies were stratified and randomly sampled to provide their work-related incidents in a one-year period. Of 1092 workers, 29 workers reported 44 work-related incidents during the study period. Of the reported incidents, the most often occurring exposures and sources were contact with harmful substances (23%) and substances and materials (32%) respectively. Workers aged less than 25 (31 per 1,000,000 work-hours), underweight (41.5 per 1,000,000 work-hours) and with a perception of a low workplace safety climate (33.3 per 1,000,000 work-hours) had significantly higher incidence rates of work-related incidents. Although statistical power was low, elevated risks were noted in three factors: underweight (Odds Ratio (OR) = 2.13, 95% Confidence Interval (CI) = 0.85- 5.33), engineers (OR = 1.90, 95% CI = 0.82- 4.41) and with a perception of a low workplace safety climate (OR = 2.12, 95% CI = 0.96- 4.68). Currently, although there is little information regarding being underweight as a risk factor for work-related incidents, this issue is significant for further exploration. |
