英文摘要 | The purpose of this research was to deeply understand the Taiwanese new immigrant females' lived experience of acculturation. Research method: Modify phenomenological approach was used and total of 20 new immigrant females who lived in Sindian Ctiy, Taipei County were participated in this study. Semi-structured open ended interview was used for data collection. Each participant was interviewed three to four times and interviews ranged in length from 30 to 90 minutes. Themes were emerged by data analysis. Findings The shift physical and mental status of the immigrant females can be categorized into five stages: the dream-building stage, the storm stage, the grounding stage, the germination stage, and the bloom stage. At the dream-building stage, the new immigrant females form various expectations toward Taiwan society. Then at the storm stage, these immigrants suffer from both physical and mental problems due to cultural conflicts. The birth of their children leads them into the grounding stage. At the germination stage, support from their family, society and medical system is important. Finally comes to the bloom stage, during which they can express innermost demands and are willing to assist other immigrant females in adapting to new living environment. Three conclusions are made below. First, pregnancy health education needs to focus on guiding their family members to understand and respect their original cultures in order to providing proper postpartum care. Second, community nursing staff should encourage better communication between family members and new immigrant females, discover demands, provide resources and case transfer to facilitate cultural adaptation. At last, adequate information provision, respect for their original cultures, as well as support from immigrants' family members, the society and related medical workers are vital in the process of their cultural adaptation. |
