中文摘要 | 光纖到家技術正帶動著新一波的光通訊的快速成長與寬頻網路革命。由於潛在應用的多樣性,目前的技術發展正處於百家爭鳴的發展階段。本文比較了五種目前引起重視的光纖到家網路架構,根據寬頻網路的成長預估,由整體架構的複雜度、多工方式、頻寬與維護等方面做比較,希冀找出一個適用下世代的光存取網路架構。此外,我們針對最具成長潛力的分波多工被動光學網路,提出一個簡易且具有效改善訊號品質的方法。針對使用直調雷射作為機房端的光源以及使用反射式半導體光放大器作為用戶端的光源的架構,提出嶄新方法,在每個用戶端的光接收機之前加上一個體積小的菲比-比洛光濾波片。此光濾波片可使下行訊號的光頻譜分布縮窄進而對光訊號波形整形,並在反射式光放大器以下行訊號做重複載上上行訊號時,降低下行訊號造成串音的影響。由於相同光濾波片可對多個波長通道訊號同時進行整形,因此仍可維持用戶端的無色操作,此為用戶端廉價化的基本要求。實驗結果證實這個包含10Gbps下行訊號與1.25Gbps上行訊號同時雙向傳輸的分波多工被動光網路的可行性與訊號品質改善效果。 |
英文摘要 | Fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) technologies are driving fast growth of fiber optic industry and bring the evolution for broadband networks. There exist various schemes and architectures for FTTH due to its versatile applications. This paper includes two parts. The first part compares five popular and promoting FTTH architectures based on the technology complexity, multiplexing scheme, bandwidth, and reliability. The goal is to find the feasible solutions for next generation optical access networks. In the second part, we propose a simple and low-cost scheme to enhance the bidirectional transmission performance of wavelength division multiplexed passive optical networks (WDM-PONs) with direct-modulation lasers (DMLs) at the center office and reflective semiconductor optical amplifiers (RSOAs) at the optical network units (ONUs). We propose here to enhance the performance by adding a FP etalon before the receiver of each optical network unit (ONU). The etalon performs spectral reshaping and then waveform reshaping to the downstream signals. This allows the use of low-ER downstream signals that reduce the intensity fluctuation of ROSA-remodulated upstream signals. This approach can also extend the transmission distance by reducing the transient chirp. Colorless operation can still be obtained since the same etalon can be used to enhance multiple wavelength channels. Experimental results verify considerable performance improvement on WDM-PONs with 10-Gbps and 1.25-Gbps data rates for the downstream and upstream transmission, respectively. |
