中文摘要 | 母語是音節的核心,正確的母音發音是決定聽者理解說話內容的關鍵因素。本研究主要探討以國臺語為母語的臺灣大學生在英文中11個母音發音加上和聽覺辨析上的錯誤類型,並探索可能的相關性。本研究對來自不同年級的40位大學外文系的學生(女生20位及男生20位)進行錄音分析及聽覺辨析測驗。測試題型仿照Peterson & Barney (1952)[1],以/hVd/形式的英文字為採樣架構,也就是字的開頭為/h/,結尾是/d/,而中間為不同的11個母音,如“had”。錄音採集的語料首先經由聽覺轉寫辨識,並配合聲學分析軟體進行母音共振峰頻率分析。另外每位受試者在聽完英語母語人士所錄下的隨機題目後,聽覺辨識所聽到的母音。本研究第一階段將臺灣學生與美語人士所發的英語母音作聲學分析比較,發現臺灣學生容易混淆緊母音。接著在第二階段探索母音發音混淆的原因,將聽覺便是測試的結果,與各受試者錯誤的母音發音統計相互比較,有以下發現:1)臺灣學生發音及聽力辨析上的鬆母音錯誤率高於緊母音。2)/□/在聽覺辨析及發音資料中,都達到約50%的錯誤率;3)在發音與聽覺辨析中,母音/□/與/□/錯誤率高,且這兩個母音時常在發音上產生相互混淆的情形;4)整體來說,聽覺辨析及發音資料皆顯示前母音比中央母音或後母音較正確。本研究結果反應了Bosch, Costa, & Sebastian-Galles, (2000)[2]指出的聽覺辨析會受到母語中原本既有的音素影響。另外研究中發現學習者會把外語中和母語相近的音混為一類,這些相近音替代的錯誤類型也印證Weinreich (1968)[3]提出的相似音母語負面干擾因素。 |
英文摘要 | This study investigates the relationship between production and perception errors of 11 English vowels in Taiwan university students (20 males and 20 females). Production and perceptual discrimination of vowels in /h-V-d/ syllables (based on Peterson & Barnery, 1952) were recorded and analyzed. The accuracy of perceptual judgment was calculated. The major findings are: (1) In both production and perception, there are much more errors in lax vowels than those of tense vowels; 2) Vowel /□/, in both production and perception data, occupies around 50% of all the errors. 3) In both pereception and production data, vowels /u/ and /□/ show high perceptages of total errors. The major error patterns are the substitution or confusion of this vowel pair; 4) In both perception and production from speakers' native language (Bosch, Costa, & Sebastian-Galles, 2000). Moreover, the learners tend to blend similar vowels in L2 and L1, as mentioned in Weinreich's study (1968) that learners attend to similarities rather than differences between two sound systems. |
