中文摘要 | 本研究主要目的是探討五專生學習英語字彙時所使用的字彙學習策略。本研究除了解五專生各種不同字彙學習策略的使用頻率,探求學生對所使用的字彙學習策略的感覺,並找出較常和較少使用之字彙學習策略。另外英語字彙程度不同的學生是否使用不同的字彙策略也是本研究探討的重點。 本研究以北部某技街學院251位五專學生為對象進行問卷調查。研究工具為字彙學習策略問卷和字彙測驗。結果顯示五專生最常使用的是認知策略,最少使用的是社會策略。學生偏愛使用反覆書寫及背誦、上下文猜字意、英漢字典及與發音有關之學習策略。英語字彙程度不同的學生在學習策略的使用有明顯差異。字彙學習策略的使用頻率與學生對字彙學習策略是否有助益的感覺,亦呈現明顯的差異。因此根據本研究結果英語教師可以教導學生有效之單字學習策略,使學生培養獨立學習的習慣,進而改善英語聽說讀寫的能力。 |
英文摘要 | This study is concerned with the learning of English vocabulary by junior college students. It aimed to investigate the frequency of use of vocabulary learning strategies and how useful such strategy was perceived. Comparison was also made between shudents more proficient in English vocabulary and those less proficient to identify successful learners' strategy use which may enhance L2 vocabulary learning. A vocabulary test and a vocabulary learning strategy questionnaire were administrated to 251 third-year junior college students to inquire learners' use and perceived usefulness of learning strategies. The results of this study indicated that the most preferred strategy category was the cognitive category, while the least preferred was social (discovery). Like previous research, it was found that vocabulary proficiency did play significant roles on the selection of learning strategies. In addition, it was found that there were discrepancies between the frequency of use and the perceived usefulness of strategies. Moreover, the most favored strategies adopted by high- and low-level learners were identified, and implications for teachers and researchers are discussed. |
