中文摘要 | ICRT為臺灣唯一英語廣播電臺,本教學實驗研究旨在探討在大一實用英文課程加入ICRT全教育教學對學生英語學習動機之影響及對全民英檢初級聽力測試成績之影響。本研究以國立高雄應用科技大學非應用外語系大一新生兩班為研究對象,控制組為機械總新生,實驗組為資訊管理系新生。本研究針對實驗組進行為期四個月、計十三次、每周約半小時ICRT廣播教教學,研究者在實驗前後對兩組學生施以”英語學習動機量表”問卷及”全民英檢”初級聽力測試,以了解1)實驗組學生英語學習動機及興趣是否顯著增強;2)實驗組學生”全民英檢”初級聽力測試成績是否有所改變。本研究結果發現如下:1)實驗組學生英語學習動機顯著增強、控制組則無顯著增強,顯示加入ICRT 教育明顯提昇學生英學習動機;2)控制組與實驗組之”全民英檢”初級聽力測試成績皆呈現顯著增加,實驗組進步幅度稍低於控制組。但在實驗前測,實驗組學生”全民英檢”初級聽力測試成績顯著高於控制組,因此,本實驗並不能測出加入ICRT教育並能否增進實驗組”全民英檢”初級聽力測試成績,尚待進一步研究釐清。最後,研究者針對研結果加以討論分析,此研究將做為英語學習及英語教學之參考。 |
英文摘要 | ICRT (International community Radio Taipei) is the only Taiwan-based 24-hour free English-broadcasting radio channel in Taiwan. this empirical study, lasting for four months, aims to explore the impact on learner motivation and on basic-level GEPT (General English Proficiency TEST) listening score after ICRT authentic materials are integrated into Freshman English instruction. A definition of motivation in this study adopts learner interest/enjoyment, attention/action, perceived competence, effort, perceived choice, value/importance, related activities. Two freshman classes from KUAS (National Kaohsiung University of Applied Sciences) participated in this research. Both classes used artificial materials, but only the experiment class and ICRT authentic materials integrated in learning. Data were collected from a survey and basic-level GEPT listening test, which were both conducted on week two and week seventeen. The survey results indicate that 1)Integrating ICRT authentic materials significantly increases learner motivation in learning English; 2)Both groups have significant increase in basic-level GEPT listening score. But the pre-test result of GEPT shows that the experiment group scores significantly higher than the control group. Thus, without a similar baseline, whether integrating ICRT authentic materials can significantly increase students’ basic GEPT listening score is not sufficiently detected from this research and it waits for further study to clarify. Finally, suggestions of integrating ICRT authentic materials into EFL teaching and learning are made based on the findings. |
