英文摘要 | The main goal of this study is to offer valuable empirical findings for educational policy decision-making in Taiwan. To achieve this goal, a set of surveys of a representative sample of adult population in Taiwan was conducted regarding their views and attitudes toward important educational issues. The surveys were designed around three topics relevant for educational policy: issues about preschool and elementary education, secondary and teacher education, and higher and vocational education. Each topic included fifteen questions besides the background questions. The questions were designed to encompass important and emerging issues related to the topic. There were 1068 interviewees who were twenty years old or above and randomly sampled by CATI (computer-assisted telephone interviewing according to the population percentage of counties in each survey. The data are also weighted by gender and age so that the results can be generalized to represent the views of the adult population in Taiwan. Out of the entire set of forty-five questions, the results of twenty-five questions are discussed in this paper due to their relative importance. The study may prove to be pertinent to the needs of educational policy-makers. In addition, it provides evidence of general public concerns about important educational issues in Taiwan. |
