中文摘要 | 對個人而言,「通識」和「專業」並非對立的兩面,二者的存在是一種互補的關係,各有其教育和生活上的意義,也各有其發揮的一面。然而,當今的通識教育一方面必須對抗來自專業的壓縮,又必須堅持教育信念上的理想性,確實有它必須面對的困境。本文試圖從「智識和能力」的培育,論述通識教育之於個人生活的重要,並倡導在科學類通識課程中談論「爭議性科技議題」,作為達成「培育學生具備通識的智識和能力」之具體、可行的途徑。此外,本文也針對爭議性科技議題的教學提出內容、教法、評量等方面的建議。 |
英文摘要 | The Instruction of Socio-scientific Controversies in General Education Socio-scientific controversies are to discuss social dilemmas with conceptual and technological links to socience. We are constantly confronted with these controversial issues in the present, and will be, in the future. The purpose of this article is to argue that the incorporation of Socio-scientific controversies in science classroom will provide a richer context and contents for non-major science students to learn science in general education at the college level. It will enable the students to handle the controversial issues in science and technology with the skills of critical thinking, problem solving and decision making. Moreover, it will promote the development of a reponsible citizenry. All of these are consistent with the goal of science curriculum in general education. Suggestions for the teching materials, methods and assessment are provided in this article. |
