英文摘要 | Critical theory ties the issues of suffering and justice together, as is particularly apparent in Benjamin and Adorno's thoughts, which is mainly due to the influence of the Jewish concept of Messiah. This essay first of all puts forth Benjamin's idea about the philosophy of history, noting his analysis on the relatedness between time and hope and finding a kind of anti-goaled Utopia. As for Adorno, he sees the desire for happiness as a kind of hopelessness, thoroughly integrating the idea of the negative of negation, pressing towards a kind of aesthetical mysticism. According to Benjamin and Adorno, critical theory is actually a theory of redemption; in other words, it is precisely through their persistence and belief on redemption that they realized their critiques. |
