英文摘要 | The supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO₂) extraction apparatus equipped with a column type extractor was employed in the present study. The effect of extractor's temperature gradient on the separation efficiency of cholesterol from lard was investigated. Lard was extracted in a temperature gradient column-type extractor by 1000 nature liters (NL) of CO₂ at pressures from 2500 to 4000 psi and various combinations of temperature gradient from 40°C to 110°C. Results showed that SC- CO₂ could extract more lard and cholesterol by the temperature gradient operation than the constant temperature operation. The cholesterol concentration, [chol], in the residual lard was therefore lower (i.e. better cholesterol reduction effect) when operated under temperature gradient condition. This temperature gradient effect, however, could not be observed when the lower section temperature was below 40°C. At constant lower section temperature, raising the upper section temperature decreased the cholesterol reduction effect of the residual lard but increased the amount of residual lard. Under the same temperature gradient condition, higher pressure resulted in an increased amount of extractable lard while the [chol] in the residual lard decreased (i.e. better cholesterol reduction effect). Results of this study demonstrated that lard extracted by SC- CO₂ in a temperature gradient column-type extractor would exhibit a better cholesterol reduction effect when the upper section temperature is low and pressure is high. However, the lower yield of lard was obtained. |
