英文摘要 | Chrornatography is a sorption-desorption process involving the interaction between the stationary phase and the mobile phase. The use of porous media as catalysts, fillers, composite materials or soils as stationary phase, their physicochemical properties, including thermodynamic functions, mass transfer rates and surface energy relationship with the mobile phase as solute or probe can be investigated in a direct nondestructive manner without additional sampling for analysis. A typical example is the use of inverse gas chromatography (IGC) and to a lesser extent with the HPLC. Applications in the determination of heat of adsorption, diffusion, characterization of polymer chain structures, and electronic affinity are just a few of possibilities, and provide a useful tool for chemical processing involving catalysis, mass transfer operations and mixing. The current interest in the investigation of nanoparticles is another indication of the potential of this approach. |
