英文摘要 | This study was conducted from December 31, 1963 to April 28, 1964. in which 32 New Hampshire and Barred Plymouth Rock hens, a total of 40 were used. These hens were divided into four lots, ten each lot including 8 New Hampshires and two Barred Plymouth Rocks. There were four different treatments, such as one part of semen with two parts of diluent and insemination once per week in lot I, one part of semen with three parts of diluent and insemination once per week in lot II, one part of semen with two parts of diluent and insemination twice week in lot III, and one part of semen with three parts of diluent and insemination twice per week in lot IV. Saline solutoin was used as diluent. And 0.1cc. of diluted semen was used for each insemination. The insemination once a week was taken place in every Monday afternoon, and the insemination twice a week was taken place in every Monday and Thursday afternoon. The eggs were collected once a day and held at room temperature until incubated. The eggs were incubated one batch a week. A total of 2382 eggs were incubated. After 7 days and 14 days incubation, fertility and dead embryoes were determined by candling respectively. Hatchability was taken on 22nd day of incubation. Data were analyzed statistically, and results were obtained as follows: Ⅰ. A highly significant difference (P<0.01) in fertility and significant (P<0.05) in hatchability was found to exist among various treatments. Ⅱ. The fertility of 1:2 and 1:3 diluted semen in same doses and in same intervals showed no significant difference (P>0.05). Ⅲ. The fertility was highly significant difference (P<0.01) between the insemination once and twice a week in different times of diluted semen. The percentage of fertility were 72.84 ±7.60 in lot I, 75.63 ±12.59 in lot II, 92.84 ±5.69 in lot III, and 90.32 ±5.70 in lot IV. It showed that the fertility of insemination twice a week lots were higher than that of insemination once a week lots. Ⅳ. The less times or the same times of diluted semen and shorter intervals gave the higher hatchability. Other-wise, the more times of diluted semen and the longer intervals gave the lower hatchability. Ⅴ. In this study, the fertility averaged 82.97%, and hatchability averaged 80.6% in all lots. It showed that the saline solution (0.9%) was a good diluent for fowl semen as insemination at once after semen collection. |
