英文摘要 | The purpose of this study was to use career self-efficacy as the medium, accompanied with personal variables and environmental factors to build up a path model of career choice for university students in Taiwan. The structure of this path model is based on thorough literature review, and the empirical outcome will revise the framework of this path model. All 7 research tools were administered to a sample of 439 students from two universities in central Taiwan. Based on the responses of the sampled subjects, the universality of self-efficacy theory and career choice theory was examined. The results indicate that there were almost no mean differences between male and female students on every variable. Students with higher career self-efficacy seemed to pay more attention to their career choice and have wider range of career choices. According to female career choice, career self-efficacy is the main index of traditionally and nontraditionally careers choices. Revised path model showed that career self-efficacy was the key to predict personal career choice, and was also an important mediational variable to career choice behavior. The findings of this study are positively related to the universality of the theories of self-efficacy and career choice. Since it is an exploratory study, the developed path model must be further empirically cross-validated so as to demonstrate its generalizability. |
