英文摘要 | A rough surface, simulated by the W-M function derived from the fractal theory, in contact with a plane is studied in this paper. The effects of surface roughness on the real area of contact, the contact loading and the number of contact asperities are examined. Numerical simulations are performed as the flat plate is pressed toward the rough surface. It is found that the G-W contact model is valid only for the prediction of the contact between the smoothest surface and a plane. A power law relation A□-L□ is proposed and the exponent n for the roughest surface is found to be close to unity. Most of the contact asperities on the rough surface may eventually be yielded and the mean real contact pressures approach a constant value above the material yield strength as the contact loading increases. |
