英文摘要 | This study was to explore the edge wear of router-bits at various feeding length by CNC router. The shank diameter of the two-blade router-bit was 12 mm which was made of high carbon steel with a sharpness angle of 50 degree with the rake angle and clearance angle were 20 degree respectively. Material used for cutting were maple and MDF of similar specific gravity. The wearing of the router-bit was measured at feeding lengths of 10, 20, 40, 80, 160, 320, 640, 1280, 2560 and 5120 meters. After each stage, the routerbit was embedded in a commercial molding polymer to obtain the profile of the routerbit. The polymer mold was then sliced by a microtome. The sliced profile was observed under a microscope equipped with a Charge Coupled Devices (CCD) camera to record the profile image file. The image file was then processed by AutoCAD software to measure the rake recession, clearance recession and radius of the tip as the indicators of the wearing degree of the router-bit. The results showed that the edge recession of the routerbit of the two materials were quite similar to each other at a feeding length of 2560 meters. However, the router-bit profile for maple showed a concaved image at the feeding length of 5120 meters. Furthermore, surface roughness of both materials did not increase with increasing feeding length although the cut surface of MDF was always rougher than that of maple due to uneven distribution of the specific gravity across the thickness of |
