中文摘要 | 任何一個民族,其文化傳統之形成與發展,均與社會經濟的發達水平與各時代傑出思想家總結時代特徵、特性相映而成有關。中國自三代以迄於今,每一時代之文化傳統都由當時之政治、經濟形勢及其傑出思想家的總結兩相結合而成。中華民族之優秀文化傳統及其偉大的民族性,端賴以儒家為主線的思想孕育薰陶而成。中庸不偏,強調人際關係,主張天人合一,這些偉大思想對當今之時弊不啻一帖良藥。現代人迷信科學,忘卻人生的意義與終向,片面追求物慾,造成了多種弊端。當今有識之士,咸主以儒家真道以治時弊。然儒家至漢成為顯學後,被歷代當政者作為統治工具,任意穿鑿附會,繁文縟節,宋明時又侈談人性,無裨於經世致用,守舊因循,造成近代積弱,偏離聖學;宜返其本真,去其蔓枝贅疣,發揚其內聖外王、仁民愛物、天人相諧之大道,自能有益於當世非淺。 |
英文摘要 | The establishment and development of cultural tradition of any nation is related to the level of social and economical development, and to the conclusion of characteristics of the epoch made by excellent thinkers. In China, from the Three Dynasties to now, the cultural tradition of each epoch is the result of a combination of political and economical situation, and excellent thinkers. The excellence of Chinese culture and nationality depends upon the main line of the Confucian thought: the practice of the doctrine of the mean, the emphasis on social relations, the assertion of the union of men and Heaven. Those great thoughts are good cure to the problems in the modern society. The modern is superstitious in science, but forgets the meaning of life and final destination. Their pursuit of materials results in many defects. Now the knowledgeable people all think that the Confucian thought can cure those defects. However, Confucianism as an influential school since Han Dynasty has been regarded as instrumental to ruling. This has brought inappropriate interpretations to Confucianism, and made Confucianism emphasis the unnecessary ritual. In the time of Sung and Ming, much talk of human nature was no use to social improvement and administration, which resulted in the weakness of Chinese modern times. Confucianism is useful to the modern world unless we remove its veil and bring back its real meaning: inner sage outer king, love people, and the Tao of the relation between men and Heaven. |
