中文摘要 | 本文旨在探討教學科目與教師性別對學生評鑑教師教學之影響。教學科目包含五 個領域:藝術、教育、語文、數理以及社會科。本研究以國立花蓮師範學院八十五學年度第 一學期開課班級為研究對象,共得有效樣本 437 班。 研究工具是花蓮師範學院教務處所編 製的教學反映意見調查表( Student Ratings of Instruction Form,簡稱 SRI )。 該量 表共分為四個層面:教學準備、教學內容、教學方法以及學習評量。 本研究採 5 X 2 多變項變異數分析來探討教學科目和教師性別對學生評鑑教師教學的影響 情形。研究結果如下: 一、就多變項分析而言,教學科目和教師性別對學生評鑑教師教學結果的影響有交互作用。 二、就單變項分析而言,教學科目和教師性別對學生評鑑教師在教學準備與學習評量兩個層 面上有交互作用。 三、就主要效果而言,教學科目在多變項分析上達到顯著水準,而教師性別沒有達到差異的 顯著水準。 四、就簡單主要效果而言,男教師在不同教學科目所得的評鑑分數有顯著差異,女教師亦然 。從教師性別來分析,則除了教育科目外,其他四個領域的科目,男教師和女教師均有顯著 的差異。 |
英文摘要 | The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of subject area and instructor gender on student ratings of teaching performance. Subject area consisted of five categories: arts, education, language and literature, mathematics and science, and social studies. The sample consisted of 437 courses taught by 132 instructors at National Hualien Teachers College during the fall semester of the 1996-1997 academic year. The Student Ratings of Instruction (SRI) form was used to measure students' perceptions of faculty performance. The rating form was composed of 13 questions and yielded four dimensions: Preparation/Planning, Material/Content, Method/Skill, and Assignment/Examination. A 5 X 2 multivariate technique was used to determine the interaction effect of subject area and instructor gender and how this effect varied for the different dimensions of student ratings of instruction. The results indicated that (a) the interaction between subject area and instructor gender was statistically significant (F=2.432,p=.001); (b) the main effect due to subject area was statistically significant (F=6.779, p=.000); and (c)the main effect due to instructor gender was not statistically significant (F=1.655.p=.160). To determine which variables contribute to the interaction effect, the univariate F tests for the interaction on each dimension were examined. Of the four dimensions, Preparation/Planning and Assignment/Examination were significant. The univariate F tests were also employed to test the main effect of subject area. All the four dimensions were significant. Although instructor gender seemed to have no influence on student ratings of teacher performance, the result was different when it was combined with subject area. The importance of the interaction of subject area by instructor gender in student ratings of teacher performance was discussed, and implications for future research were noted. |
