中文摘要 | 本研究從四方面(基本屬性、學習方式、動機導向及動機強度)探討三十一個可能影響外語學習的因素,與英語學習成就間的關聯性;研究目的在找出是否這四類解釋變項能有效地預測英語學習成就,並瞭解那一類變項之預測力較高,與建立一預測模型。本研究對象為南部某技術學院附設專科部學生576人,透過問卷調查及統計分析,所得研究結果顯示,四類解釋變項皆能有效地預測英語學習成就,其分類一致程度皆在六成左右,其中以動機強度的預測力最高,其餘依次為學習原因、基本屬性及學習方式。另外,以逐步法對三十一個解釋變項求出的整體等比優勢模型(proportional odds model)得知,以被選入的九個變項來預測專科生的英語學習成績所屬之等級,其分類一致程度超過七成,代表具有顯著的預測功效,且與以所有變項來預測專科生的英語成績所屬等級的分類一致程度,兩者之間並無差異,可謂大大地簡化了飽合模型(saturated model)。 |
英文摘要 | The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between four aspects of learning factors (background information, channels of learning, motivational orientation and motivational intensity) and English-learning achievement, and to establish a proportional odds model by which to predict success in English language learning. The subjects were 576jr. college students on whom a questionnaire survey was conducted in fall of 1996. The result of this study indicated that all the four aspects of learning factors are highly predictive in English-learning achievement with concordant value as high as sixty percent. Among the four, the "motivational intensity" factor has the highest predictability, followed by "learning motives", "background information" and "learning channels," respectively. In addition, according to the proportional odds model obtained through stepwise regression, the nine variables chosen out of the total thirty-one variables had a prominent effect in predicting jr. college students' success in learning English with concordant value exceeding 70%. In other words, the chosen nine variables displayed the same predicting effect as when all of the thirty-one variables were used to make prediction, and had thus vastly simplified the saturated model. |
