英文摘要 | A popular vegetable species water convolvulus (Ipomoea aquatica Forsk, cv. Bamboo-Leaf) grown in aerated nutrient solution in greenhouse was treated with various levels of copper, zinc, nickel, chromium and lead. The yield changes and accumulations of the heavy metals in the tissues were investigated. The top dry weights of the plants significantly decreased when Cr, Ni, Cu, and Zn exceeded 1.25, 2.5. 5.0, and 5.0 mg/L in water culture, respectively. The yield losses typically increased at higher concentrations. The highest yield loss of over 80% occurred when Cr or Ni were applied to this plant, followed by Cu and Zn. The effects of Cr, Ni, Cu, and Zn on plant height were also significant. Only lead did not show any effects on this plant. Plants treated with higher concentrations of heavy metals generally accumulated more metals in their tissues. The element contents in root tissue were normally much higher than those in the shoots. The root tissue toxic thresholds for Cu, Zn, Ni, and Cr were 294, 1218, 799 and 274 mg/kg, respectively; while their corresponding shoot thresholds were 25, 230, 65, and 22 mg/kg. Translocation abilities of these five elements at toxic threshold concentrations as addressed by the root/shoot ratios of element concentration, were in the order of Zn >> Ni ≒ Cu ≒ Cr >> Pb. |
