英文摘要 | When the next millennium is approaching there are socio-cultural forces that are shaping our futures: the forces of migration; of post-colonialism and the rise of indigenous peoples; and the rise of civil society. From today's context, new forms of progressive planning have begun to emerge, a 'bottom-up' style of planning. If we want to address issues of social, culture and environmental justice in the cities and regions, what we need is no less than a paradigm shift. This paper points out that there are four dilemmas that we face in the professionally-driven curriculum of the general academic training: planning needs to identify the specificity of its domain, to be articulated with environmental and design programs, to redefine the question of methods, or skills, or competencies as a matter of key literacies; and be approached as an ethical inquiry. Along with John Friedmann's argument for the intersection of six socio-spatial processes, the author further suggests that planning should focus on question of meaning, of value, of spirit, and argues for new interdisciplinary hybrids which seek to link areas of knowledge into a more integrated approach. On the bases, the author suggests a group of six literacies-technical, analytical, multicultural, ecological, and design-which form the acronym TAMED, suggesting a frame of mind more humble, open than that of the heroic modernist planner. |
